How to Recover a Forgotten Gmail Password
1. Go to the official Google Account recovery page
Visit: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery
(You can type it manually—don’t click links from emails for security.)
2. Enter the Gmail address you want to recover
Type your full email address
(example: yourname@gmail.com)
Click Next.
3. Google will ask you verification questions
Google may ask one or more of the following:
A. Your last password you remember
If you don’t remember, click Try another way.
B. A verification code sent to your recovery phone
Check your phone for a text message or call.
Enter the code.
C. A verification code sent to your recovery email
Open the other email account.
Find the code from Google.
Enter it.
D. Use your phone (Android or iPhone) to confirm it’s you
If your Google account is already signed in on a device, you may get:
“Is this you?”
Tap Yes on your phone.
E. Security questions
Google may ask:
“When did you create this Google account?”
Just estimate if you’re unsure.
4. Create a new password
Once Google verifies you:
Choose a strong password.
Use at least 12+ characters with numbers, symbols, and mixed case.
Avoid reusing old passwords.
Click Save or Change Password.
5. Update your password everywhere
After recovery, update the new password in:
